It is hard to understand what drives someone to sacrifice everything for the safety and freedom of others and a simple thank you just doesn't seem adequate enough. So, as we observe this Memorial Day 2008, I salute those men and women in uniform who are presently representing the United States around the world. They are noble and courageous.
I especially want to salute two men of honor and dignity who are no longer with us...who sacrificed their lives that their families and friends would remain free... Tuck & Rob. We think of you always.
And, lastly, to my Dad, Honey, one of the twindling number of WWII vets who are still alive and kicking. He saw untold horrors in the South Pacific as a Marine. For years he kept all those memories to himself. But, in recent years, with a bit of encouragement from his grandchildren, he has journaled everything he experienced and he has embraced his part in the winning of the war. I am thankful that we now have that memory preserved. I am proud to be your daughter. I love you, DADDY!
