Preparations for Evacuation!

Notice the ruler made from a $1 bill! The only thing I am missing is some embroidery floss for a lifeline!

This is all fits quite nicely in this tiny case. The case measures 3" x 4" x 1-1/4"/

(This is almost small enough to fit in the pocket of jeans!)

With Hurricane Gustav churning in the warm waters southeast of us it is never too early to begin the preparations for evacuation. All the normal things are on our list: medications, vitamins, clothes for at least 3 days, important papers (already in a travel box), etc. The travel carriers are ready for the cats. And, I have a place in the van for the computer and other small electronics that should be kept safe.

Of course, I have to pack some knitting. The tiny box pictured above contains all the essentials I might need and it stays in the glove compartment in my van. I guess you could say that is a bit extreme but you just never know when you will be stranded somewhere and have a real need for these things. So I am trying to think ahead to the possibility that I will need to have busy hands when we evacuate to my brother's house outside of McComb!

Just pray that this hurricane will somehow dissipate in the atmosphere. The last thing the folks of this region need is a hurricane. We still have debris remaining from Hurricane Katrina! PRAY!
