Shhh! We need to keep the idea of "Stitch n' Pitch" a secret! You see it is a well-known fact that I am not a sports person. Which is amazing since I am married to "Mr. Sporty-I-Have-A -Clean-Uniform-Put-Me-In-Coach". DearHeart played baseball in college for a great Coach (one of the sweetest men I have ever met and a true Southern gentleman). DearHeart loves all things sporty, especially baseball. He is already planning what he will do when he retires...he will visit EVERY major league baseball stadium for a least one game. I just pat his arm when he pulls out his U.S. Atlas and highlights the different cities. This kind of trip does not sound appealing to me at all. It requires being outdoors for long periods of time and sitting in very crowded and uncomfortable places with people who are fanatical about what they are watching,...a place where there is pushing and shoving, locker-room smells, beer, peanuts, hot dogs of questionable origin and *sweating...you know what I am saying? I do think my husband should experience his dream and maybe he and his brother should plan this kind of thing together. BUT, if he had any idea that there was a "Stitch n' Pitch" there would be no reason for me not to attend baseball games. I do not my mind knitting in public. I do this all the time. So, please, don't tell DearHeart! Just let this be our little secret!
*Sweating - I just have to add that growing up I was a very prissy little girl, I never got dirty! My dad, being a Southern gentleman, loved the fact that his little "belle" was prissy so he fueled my desire to be all things pink and frilly. So, he shielded me from anything that required sweat and dirt and hard labor. Although I have a strong work ethic...my hard work has always been directed toward things of a creative nature, writing, cooking, embroidery, sewing, knitting, etc. And, I poke fun at myself all the time...I know that I am a prissy, Belle and "glistening" is preferable to "sweating". I am a throw-back to all things feminine!
Blessings for your weekend!
